We Solve Murders

It was a pleasure to collaborate with the team at D8 to animate these stunning illustrations for Richard Osman's new book, "We Solve Murders."

The script and voiceover was already recorded before we started animating this one, and it filled the 30s runtime snugly. Our challenge was to take the beautiful illustrations created by Linda, and transition quickly from each scene without it feeling rushed. This constraint opened up possibilities where the animations could overlap each other, creating a faux 3D effect.

These animated illustrations were showcased on television and social media in the lead-up to the book's release. I particularly enjoyed animating Trouble the cat and the title reveal. We then created work for the paperback edition and a special, festive holiday social video with Trouble the cat in a santa hat.

The title lockup took inspiration from murder scene outlines and which then fill in with a liquid looking effect.
